About NEET-UG
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) is India's largest and most competitive national-level medical entrance examination conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET UG is the single entrance examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, BVSc & AH, B.Sc. Nursing (at participating institutions), and other undergraduate medical and allied health science courses offered by government, private, deemed, and central universities across India. NEET UG is mandatory for admission to medical colleges recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), Dental Council of India (DCI), Ministry of AYUSH, and participating veterinary and nursing institutions as per the applicable admission rules. Every year, more than 20 lakh candidates appear for the examination, making it one of the largest entrance exams in the country. The examination evaluates candidates in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) based on the Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT syllabus. NEET UG is conducted in Pen and Paper (Offline) mode using an OMR answer sheet. The exam is designed to test conceptual understanding, scientific aptitude, analytical ability, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills required for medical education. Students who have passed or are appearing in Class 12 (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English from a recognized board are eligible to appear for NEET UG, subject to the latest eligibility criteria prescribed by NTA and NMC. A good NEET UG score enables candidates to secure admission to prestigious institutions such as AIIMS New Delhi, JIPMER Puducherry, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), King George's Medical University (KGMU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore (as per its admission policy), and leading Government and Private Medical Colleges across India.
