About M.Tech in Electrical Engineering

M.Tech Electrical Engineering is a two-year postgraduate engineering program that provides advanced knowledge in electrical systems, power generation, power electronics, control systems, renewable energy, smart grids, and industrial automation. The course is designed for engineering graduates who wish to develop specialized technical skills, research expertise, and leadership capabilities for careers in the power sector, manufacturing industries, research organizations, and academia. The curriculum follows the AICTE Model Curriculum, combining advanced theoretical concepts with practical learning through laboratory work, industrial training, seminars, simulation-based studies, and research projects. Students gain expertise in emerging technologies such as smart grid technology, electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy systems, high voltage engineering, power system protection, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) in power systems, and energy management systems. The program emphasizes innovation, sustainable energy solutions, and multidisciplinary learning, preparing graduates to solve complex engineering challenges in modern electrical and energy industries.

Eligibility Criteria

Must have completed B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

Candidates with related disciplines such as Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Power Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Control Engineering may also be eligible, subject to university regulations.

A minimum aggregate of 50%–60% marks in the qualifying degree is generally required.

Admission is commonly based on GATE scores, university entrance examinations, or merit-based selection, depending on the institution.
